What you can do...
- Why not take some time to register your opinions in our online vote:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/save-newborough-forest
Other peoples opinions are here - Online Petition results
- It would be better still, if you could sign our paper petitions in Newborough or Llangaffo Post Offices on Anglesey, or at our local INFORMATION POINT at the
'White Lodge Caravan Park Cafe' which is outside Newborough Village just
past the roundabout on the Dwyran road .
- Best of all by far, please consider registering your opinions by
writing to or e-mailing your local MP and your Welsh Assembly Member. Other people you may wish to contact are listed below.
If you think your letter is good enough, please send us a copy & we may put it on the website, minus personal details, as an example to others. (send to letters@savenewboroughforest.org.uk ).
- If you feel strongly enough then please write to
the Press.
- If you would like to help with our petitioning, or would like some petitioning forms then please contact help@savenewboroughforest.org.uk
Below is a sample letter that you may find useful:
Dear Sir
I am writing to register my strong objection to the demands of the Countryside Council for Wales for massive tree felling to take place in Newborough Forest on the Isle of Anglesey. These
demands will remove hundreds of hectares of mature woodland in order to
return the site to open and mobile sand dunes.
Anglesey already has the lowest woodland cover of any county in
Wales, and I believe that these demands do not take into account either the
recreational value of the site or its importance for wildlife.
Newborough forest is a unique area of outstanding natural beauty
and, in addition, contains the second largest Raven roost in Western Europe (some
2000 birds), and it is a refuge for the protected native Red Squirrel.
The proposals should be shelved permanently so that Newborough Forest, held in trust for the people by the Welsh Assembly, can be enjoyed by future generations.
Yours sincerely
